  • Land Art project

    Thursday 4/30 & Friday 5/1:

Over the next few days, go for a walk and look for items from nature (ie. sticks, leaves, feathers, flowers, sand, rocks, etc.). Create a Land Art sculpture in the style of Andy Goldsworthy. (It does not need to be big like Goldsworth's). Leave it in nature, but be sure to bring a camera and take a picture of it when you are done before nature sweeps it away. Email me the picture and I will add it to my website (link to the left and here). Hopefully the weather cooperates. Have fun! (Due Monday 5/4)

  • Tour the Metropolitan Museum of Art (NYC)

    Friday 4/24:

Explore the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC through this interactive map. Find 3 sculptures and fill in your choices on the attached Microsoft Forms below. For each sculpture find: the title, artist, medium (material), date and 1 fun fact about it. (Fun facts will pop up to the right of your choice). This map is pretty cool, so have fun exploring and be sure to check out the Time Machine. (Hint: The map is probably bigger than your screen, so if you press and hold the cursor (left click button), you can drag other parts of the map into view.)

  • Giacometti Examples

    Wednesday 4/22 & Thursday 4/23:

Create 2 sculptures of a person in different actions using Giacometti's style (see the above link for examples). They may interact with each other or with your cardboard sculpture if you like. Ideally tin foil is best. If you don't have tinfoil, you can use paper or any other material you can find. Due on Friday 4/24! Send me a picture of them when you are done and I will add them to my website (link to the left and here). Happy sculpting!

  • Cardboard Sculptures examples

    Thursday 4/16 & Friday 4/17:

For our first project of the 4th Quarter, create a sculpture using cardboard. The challenge is to create flat shapes and use them to create forms. Your sculpture can be abstract or an object (like the lemonade glass and the phone in the examples in the link above.) You may use any kind of glue or tape. (If you don't have glue or tape, you will see in the examples how you can attach pieces together without adhesive. If you don't have cardboard, you can use empty cereal boxes or paper.) Good luck, and please send me a picture when you are done and I will add them to my website (link to the left and here)

** Due Monday, so plan your time accordingly over the few days.**

(Here is a good instructional video on building up your sculpture and attaching pieces. Click here.)
