  • Ripped Portrait Collage

    Friday 4/3:

Create a collage of a portrait (see example, link above). Ripping facial features out of old magazines (or newspapers) and gluing them to a piece of paper is best. If you don't have magazines, you can print them from the internet or even create a digital collage, if you have an app for that. Have fun. Feel free to work on it throughout the weekend! (Please take a picture and email it to me and I will add it to my website (link to the left and here).

  • Self-Portrait

    Thursday 4/2:

Now try a self-portrait all on your own. You can use a photo (like your school ID) or a mirror. Feel free to color it! Click here to see some examples from years past. If you can e-mail it to me, I will add it to my website (click here to view or the tab to the left).

  • Practice Portraits

    Wednesday 4/1:

Please draw 2 practice portraits using the attached blank portrait outline with guidelines (link above). They can be of a made up face or a person you know (even a celebrity). Consider drawing one male and one female face. If you can't print it, you can trace it or draw your own head-shape and guidelines. (The first link above shows an example of the proportions and placement of the features and another example of where NOT to put the features (which are common mistakes.)

  • Portraits Proportions

    Tuesday 3/31:

For today, watch the YouTube video twice about the proportions of a face. First time around just watch to see how it's done. Then replay it and draw along with the video. (You will be doing variations of this all week long, so do your best on this first one.) Use your skills from yesterday to draw in the features of the face.
