• Should Air Ships Fly? Airships are like blimps, but bigger. An Airship is a self-propelled balloon that looks like a cigar shaped bag that uses hydrogen or helium to lift of the ground with a gondola at the bottom and fins at the back. It was a cheap way to get around in the 1930’s. Hydrogen is easer to make but highly flammable helium is harder to make but safe.

     Air ship were held down with water and at their destination were filled with water from towers. When airships went into the sky there was no jolt. Airships use propellers to move to their destination. THEY CAN’T GO TO SPACE!!

       

     An airship has 1 captain and 3 watch officers. Also, it has 4 navigators and 4 radio officers. Some other crewman are 3 engineering officers, 3 electricians, 3 elevator men, and 3 riggers (they handle the ropes). Other works were 17 engine mechanics, 2 observes 7 stewards 1 stewardess 6 cooks 3 helmsmen (steerers) and a doctor. They all had important roles to make it fly safely.
