The Origin of Jokes (and some actual jokes/riddles)

By Matt Schuh and Michael Spinella

We both know (and hopefully you know too) that a lot of jokes can make you laugh. But some people wonder, “Where did jokes come from?” Well, we did some research and found the answer. Presenting…… THALEIA!!!!!!!!!!

Thaleia was one of the 9 muses, who were the Greek goddesses of stuff that related to music, song, and dance. Her parents are Zeus and Mnemosyne. Also, her name means “rich festivity” and “blooming.” She was picked Muse of comedy and bucolic poetry. Her symbols are a comic mask, a shepherd’s staff, and a wreath of ivy on her head. This is about her and her life. So now you know the origin of jokes.
