• Grade 12

It is important to continue the conversation about life after high school and to be creative with our post-secondary exploration. Here are a few things that you can do at home to plan for college.

    Demonstrated Interest

After you’ve narrowed down your list, it’s time to start making personal outreach to schools. Many colleges track “demonstrated interest” which refers to ways in which an applicant shows how serious they are about the college. Demonstrated interest may be emailing or making personalized phone calls to admission counselors and/or participating in virtual college tours.

    Standardized Tests

We understand the challenges that rising seniors are experiencing with taking the college entrance exams (SAT and ACT). Seaford HS will host “In-School SAT Day” during the school day where all interested SHS students will take the test on campus. We will also schedule an "In-School ACT Day" .

In the meantime, the College Board and ACT are both listing all exams and exam sites for their upcoming test administrations. Click here to find more details about the SAT. Click here for to find more details.

*Though many colleges have adopted “test-optional policies”, we encourage all students to take at least one standardized test. These exams are often used to evaluate merit scholarship awards and required for competitive majors such as engineering and nursing. It is important to check the test optional policy for each college by reviewing their admission criteria.

    Naviance – Postsecondary Exploration

Naviance is a comprehensive K-12 college and career readiness platform that enables self-discovery, career exploration, academic planning, and college preparation.  This program is an integral part of our individual junior meetings with students and families.
